Overview:

Amplifying voices through visual identity isn't just a goal—it's a responsibility. That's exactly what guided our collaborative branding journey with Multilingual Education Policy Partners (MEPP), a powerful coalition of eight organizations advancing educational equity for California's English learners.


MEPP brings together expertise spanning advocacy, policy, research, and direct practice to create meaningful, system-wide change. Funded by Sobrato Philanthropies, they serve as trusted advisors guiding transformative policies like the English Learner Roadmap.

Our challenge? Develop an identity that captures their collaborative spirit and amplifies their collective impact.

The resulting brand features interconnected triangular arrows representing forward momentum and transformation. The color progression—from warm Sunset Blush through Golden Coast to Laguna Wave and deeper Pacific Twilight—creates a visual flow symbolizing continuous growth and the influence each coalition member has on the collective mission.

Accessibility was central to our approach, with each color carefully selected and tested for 508-compliance. The typography pairs bold Almaq Refined with versatile Jost Medium, creating a system that communicates both authority and accessibility. We developed responsive logo variations and a dynamic pattern of interlocking triangles that serves as a versatile background element across platforms.

There are plenty of aspects to this project that we love, but one piece we appreciate the most is how deeply the visual branding supports MEPP's core values of amplifying, unifying, and transforming.

The visual system doesn't just look cohesive—it actively demonstrates how individual elements combine to create something greater than the sum of their parts, mirroring exactly how MEPP's members work together to drive educational change across the state of California.
