Learner Studio “Fuel for the Moment” Report Series
Overview:
This was our first project with LearnerStudio—a nonprofit with a goal of accelerating progress towards a flexible, rigorous, equitable, and learner-centered education system, to ensure all young people are inspired and prepared to thrive in life, career, problem-solving, and citizenship.
Working with LearningStudio is exciting because while there are many education entities talking about how to create real change in K-12 education, not many are taking action. One of the ways they’re looking to do that is by getting more social and impact entrepreneurs—what they call “catalytic entrepreneurs”—involved in education. These kinds of entrepreneurs tend to look beyond identified needs and existing revenue courses toward new ways of defining and delivering learning. The three-part long format print series we designed for them concentrates on 1) defining and funding what Learner Studio and their partner Cambiar Education refers to as “catalytic capital,” 2) understanding the investment landscape, and 3) ways to encourage these types of entrepreneurs to invest in innovative education initiatives.
To make this information easier to digest and consume for LearningStudio’s audience—entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, and advocacy groups—we suggested designing a three-part series to introduce the initial concept in a staggered way. When possible, we also tried to create call-outs in the text-heavy pages through focusing on data points, spotlighting policy recommendations with the help of LearningStudio’s branding.
