Washington State Department of Health 988 Website
Overview:
Ratkaj Designs works with a lot of nonprofit and education clients, so we have plenty of experience in creating visual identities and designs that create an impact.
That said, this is one of the most impactful and meaningful projects our team has had the privilege to work on: the website for The 988 Suicide & Crisis Hotline for the Washington State Department of Health. We partnered with our Seattle-based agency client, C+C | All About the Good, to bring this important website to life.
This website has the potential to save thousands of lives in the state of Washington. In 2020, the Federal Communications Commission adopted the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act, which made 988 the new nationwide number for anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or thoughts of suicide. As part of that work, Washington DOH wanted to develop resources to make 988 more accessible to everyone in the state.
To make the information as easy to access as possible, we created what we refer to as a “stringer” site—a site that’s one long page, with the navigation at the top connecting the user to anything they need to know via relevant links. Anyone perusing the site can get to any information in a more immediate way—the links at the top—or they can also scroll the page to find what they need more organically.
When you're in a crisis situation, it's so critical to find what you need quickly—and we’re honored that our team was able to work on such a critical part of ensuring the mental health of people in Washington State. Thanks for bringing us in, C+C!
