Stephen & Laurel Brown Foundation Branding
PROJECT TYPE
Branding
CLIENT:
Stephen & Laurel Brown Foundation
INDUSTRY:
Charity
Overview:
When designing the branding package for the Stephen and Laurel Brown Foundation, I was tasked with developing a logo that was religious in tone without being cliché; something modern and fresh for students of the University of Wisconsin to relate to.
My inspiration was the triquetra, originally meaning triangle, representing the father, the son, and the holy spirit. This symbol is not only a Catholic symbol but is also used in many other religions as a sign of balance and spiritual grounding. The design approach also pulled in elements of stained glass, a symbol seen in many religions and a relatable graphic element.
The identity package uses the triquetra as an underlying pattern, subtle but effective in creating a visually interesting texture.
The color purple, which frequently represents royalty and the church, and the color brown used in all of the Brown's other endeavors provide a fresh palette not frequently seen in similar foundations.
